Tulip Paint Decorated Gift Bags

Winter Hat Note Cards

This is the perfect time for an adorable little Winter Hat Note Card. The weather is getting colder and the holiday gift giving has started. This cute little note card would be perfect for attaching to a gift to give to someone special!
This is how I made them!
Materials:
Sizzix Big Shot
Laura Kelly’s Snow Hat Sizzix Die
Cardstock
Aleene’s Tacky Line Runner or other glue
Plain white printer paper

I cut my red paper to 12″x6″. For my white paper, I cut it to 2″x6″ and roughly 2″x2″.

2. I folded the red pieces in half and placed it on the hat die just at the top edge of the pompom so that it cut just a little “v” into the top of the hat, but didn’t cut all the way through the top curves of the pompom. 3. Using my little white pieces of paper, I cut just the pompom and the bottom of the hat out. Then I trimmed at the perforation marks, leaving just the bottom of the hat and the pompom.
4. Using my Aleene’s Tacky Line Runner, I attached the bottom of the hat and the pompom to the folded piece.

5. Using regular white printer paper, I folded and cut it the same way that I cut the red folded hat. Once it was cut, I opened it and cut it it in half so that I had half of the cut out.
6. Using the Aleene’s Tacky Line Runner, I attached the printer paper cut out on the inside of the card. The white printer paper is to have a place to write your note!

Easy Christmas Gift Tags

Christmas is upon us and the shopping has begun! These adorable and super easy gift tags are going to look awesome on the gifts below my Christmas tree! If you have a Sizzix Eclips2, then you most likely use Sure Cuts A Lot eCAL2 for your software. Well, if you do then all of these cut outs are included in the software.

The process was pretty easy……

The snowflake: I just cut the tag and snow flakes out separately. I used a foam dot to get the snowflake a little dimension. Then, I added a white ribbon.

The Christmas tree cutout: I cut the tags with the Christmas Tree Cut out together and then cut the same tag, minus the tree. I put them together using an Aleene’s tape runner. Then, I added a piece of twine.

The Gingerbread Man: I cut out a tag. Then I cut out the gingerbread man on brown card stock. Then, in the software, I removed the face and buttons from the gingerbread man and just cut out the outline on white card stock. Using the tape runner, I attached the white gingerbread man cut out to the back of the brown one. Then using a foam dot, I added it to the tag. To finish it up, I added a piece of twine.

The Raised Christmas Tree: I cut out some tags. Using the Christmas Tree scraps from the Christmas Tree cutout tag, I just added a foam dot to the back of the tree and added it to the tag. Then, I added a piece of twine.

The Holly Tag: I cut out some tags. Cut the Holly leaves and berries out and used a foam dot on each piece and then attached it to the tag. Then I added a piece of twine.

I hope you like these adorable little Christmas Tree Tags! I made some last week and sold them at an Artisan Fair that my Church was hosting and everyone loved them!

Scotch Tape Pumpkin Banner

Halloween is right around the corner! It’s one of my favorite times of year. I made this super cute Scotch Tape Pumpkin Banner to hang in my house! The good thing is…..it can stay up until Thanksgiving!
Materials used:
Scrap pieces of paper (at least 6″x6″)
Scotch Expressions Masking Tape and Washi Tape
Laura Kelly’s Pumpkin die from Ellison/Sizzix
Sizzix Big Shot
Placing my 6″x6″ pieces of paper, I put them on top of the pumpkin die to gauge where the stem of the pumpkin was and how much tape I needed to place on the paper. Once I got the tape down, I used the Sizzix Big Shot and the pumpkin die to cut out my pumpkins.

Using small clothes pins, I added them to a piece of ribbon to make this cute little pumpkin banner!

Happy Halloween Pumpkin Cut Out Art

Halloween will be here before we know it! And I am super excited. I love to pull out the Halloween decorations!

While I was at Target one day, I saw a popup heart piece in the framed art section and I thought it was so cute. I had not seen anything like it with Halloween designs and I don’t think the heart one had any words. I thought I’d make a Halloween one with cute little pumpkins and a font that was a little ghoulish!
Materials needed:
A shadowbox frame
cardstock (I used four pieces….black, white, green, orange)
Aleene’s glue and a adhesive runner,
Electronic Cutting Machine (I used the Sizzix Eclips2)
Halloween .svg file that I created. (comment if you’d like the file)
Once my file was cut and removed from the cutting mat, I lightly folded the cut parts upwards. I also saved the inside pieces of the letters.
Once all of my pieces were folded up, I cut strips of orange and green just big enough to fit across the back of my 12×12 piece. I used green for the stems and orange for the pumpkins. Using an Aleene’s adhesive runner, I attached the strips to the back, being careful not the squash my folded up pieces flat.
Because the insides of the letters were small, I used Aleene’s Tacky Glue to glue those to the green.

After all of my pieces were put together, I placed them into 12×12 shadowbox frames.
This photo is just to show them from each side, so that you can see that the orange and green can be seen from under the folded upward pieces of pumpkin.
I love them both, but truth be told, the black one is my favorite. It looks more Halloween-ish!

Personalized Felt Coasters with Kunin Felt

Back To School Picture Frame

It’s time for Back To School at our house! Everyone takes the “First Day of School” photos of their kids, so I thought I’d jazz up our first day of school photos. I made this super easy “My first day of….” Photo Frame. My children go to a year round school, so they are back at school this week. My oldest is off to 3rd grade and my youngest is starting Kindergarten.
Materials:
Stakes (I purchased these from ACMoore in the wood department)
Krylon ColorMaster Paint+Primer (Benjamin picked the color Iris)
Adtech Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Letters & Aleene’s Tacky Line Runner

Using the color Iris from Krylon’s 2015 color palette, I spray painted my stakes. I did two coats.

Once my stakes were dry, I used my hot glue gun to glue my stakes together.
For the letters……you can use any store bought letters, cut your own by hand, or do what I did and use an electronic cutting machine. I absolutely love my Sizzix Eclips2 and am constantly cutting letters! I then used Aleene’s Tacky Line Runner to attach my letters to my frame.
Once my letters were attached, it was time for the Kindergartener, Benjamin, to get behind the frame!

Once the school year is over, I remove the “first” and replace it with “last”. And then, the next year, I change out the grade and replace “last” with “first” again.

Here is the one I made for my oldest son, Landon!

Kunin Chevron Felt Hanging Letter

I love Kunin Group’s Chevron Felt! The pattern is already on the felt, so all you have to do is create something Felt-tastic. I love having something decorative hanging on my front door. Driving by one of my neighbors houses the other day, I noticed that they had a wooden initial on their front door, so I thought……why not do something similar with felt! While at the Craft and Hobby Associations Mega Show in January, the lovely ladies at the Kunin Group Felt booth gave me this lovely Pink Chevron Felt. And I love how it turned out!

So, I am totally obsessed with the Sizzix eclips2! It does amazing things. I use it all of the time to cut out patterns for sewing. Using the eCal2 software, I decided upon this big B. I used the eclips2 to cut it out and tada….a big B pattern!

Once my B was cut out of card stock, I pinned it to the felt and then cut it out, making sure that the top and bottoms were both facing with the pattern outward.

Using my sewing machine, I began sewing at about 1/4 of an inch from the edge. I started with the insides. For the outside of the letter, I started on the serifs, leaving an opening on the left of the “B” so that I could stuff it. I used Poly-fil to stuff it. Once it was stuffed, I pinned my open edge and sewed it shut!

Using a thicker type wire, I inserted it in two places into the back side of my “B” at the top. I meant to leave about 3 inches that I wound around a marker so give it curls.

Then it was ready to hang!

I love it and it is just perfect for the Spring time hanging on my front door!

Fun Fact: Kunin Fabrics are made from Eco-fi, 100% Post Consumer recycled plastic bottles and made in the USA!

To Talk or To Not Talk

Do you have little ones that love to talk and not eat when it comes to meal time? Mine love to talk and not eat and we sometimes find ourselves still sitting at the table an hour later because the children aren’t done.

My oldest is in elementary school. I’ve noticed that when I go there to have lunch with him, that they have a period of time at the beginning of lunch that they can not talk. At the end of the table is a little stand that has a green side and a red side. When the red side is facing them, they can’t talk and must eat. When it gets turned to the green side facing them, they can talk quietly with their friends. And it’s never quiet in the cafeteria when it’s time to talk!

So, since we have a hard time getting our food eaten within an hour, my husband suggested that we make a very similar stand for our table! I decided to make mine with Kunin Felt!

Using my Sizzix Eclips2, I cut out a person and a talk bubble out of cardstock. These two items were included in the Sure Cuts A Lot software that is used for the Eclips2. Then, I used pins to attached the patterns to the felt and cut out two of each! I ended up cutting out two small strips of red to put into one of my talk bubbles to symbolize “no talking”. I then cut out a red and green rectangle, probably 6×10 inches. Using my sewing machine, I sewed the people and bubbles onto the rectangle pieces.

Using a strip of white felt (3×10 inches), I folded it into half and then in half again. Using scissors, I cut a right triangle, so that when it was unfolded it was a triangle. I pinned it to one of my rectangles with the right side up. I sewed them to the rectangle and repeated with the other rectangle. I then cut out a 3×6 inch rectangle from white for the base of my stand. I pinned it and sewed it to the top part of my felt stand, leaving a 2 inch opening for turning it inside out and stuffing it. Once it was stuffed, I sewed it up from the outside using my sewing machine. You could also hand stitch.

One of my kids thought it was cool and one wasn’t so happy about it, well until it was turned to the talking side! Usually we start our meal by saying a blessing and talking about what we are thankful for that day. Now, we say our blessing, set the timer for our 10 minutes of no talking, and then we can talk about what we are thankful for that day.

Benjamin actually ended up like the talking/no talking stand. He wanted to snuggle and sleep with it! He carried it around for a little while before it went back to the table. Now, just so you know……we aren’t doing this to be mean. We just have an every day issue with a little too much talking at the table and very little eating. And after trying it, it has actually helped! Benjamin will be going to Kindergarten in July, so this also helps get him ready for what lunch time will be like for him at the elementary school!
